Our trip to Wakanda

Mike is a Marvel fan. I have never been into cartoons or comic books until I met Mike. So needless to say I've seen EVERY Marvel movie. When Mike knew that Marvel was creating a movie about the Black Panther I knew we'd be in the audience on opening day. What I didn't know is that we'd be in Abu Dhabi!

In January one of our friends here in Abu Dhabi invited us and some other people to pre order tickets and see the movie the day it was released here. We were so excited for many reasons but 1 being that that the main characters and many of those behind the camera are black! How exciting to see black people in a positive light on a large screen. This was a time for us to represent for our culture. We had our outfits picked out weeks in advance. We even decided to make a weekend out of this and do a staycation. We got a hotel for the weekend and had planned to fully enjoy ourselves and celebrate our culture.

I will not discuss the movie because I want to encourage you to see it for yourself. The movie was amazing. As we were coming out of the movie we saw so many people in their African attire. It was such a great feeling to be 7000 miles from home and our people still show out for the culture. This weekend made me proud to be black even though I'm proud to be black all the time. 😀😀😀

Take a look at how we entered Wakanda.

As part of our staycation we decided to ride around. We used a dirham ($1 here in Abu Dhabi) and if it landed on the lamp we turned right if it landed on the 1 we turned left.

This was fun because we got to see parts of Abu Dhabi that we haven't seen AND this led us to a Highway 55.

We definitely stopped there for lunch. The food was just as good as it is back home. As we were riding we saw some amazing views.

After a while all of the streets began looking alike.

This weekend was so great.

We are now preparing for our very first visitor. I'm not going to divulge who our visitor is going to be but you can count on an entire blog about our visitor and our adventures with our visitor.
